Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD)
The Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) syllabus provides the foundations for our technical development programs in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Contemporary Dance [Acrobatic Arts and Body Conditioning are also incorporated into our syllabus programs]. ATOD are leaders in the field of dance education, both nationally and internationally, delivering dynamic, innovative and engaging syllabi. Classes are offered for 18-month-old toddlers through to advanced levels and seniors.
Tiny Tots & Starlets
- A delightful foundation program for young dancers 18 months – 3 years, and 3 – 5 years.
- Combines basic skills in Ballet, Jazz and Musical Theatre.
- Introduces children to the magic and fun of mime, music and dance.
Classical Ballet
- A comprehensive development program teaching artistry and building strength.
- Includes National Character and point work at the higher levels.

Jazz Moves
- Incorporates stretching and strengthening, turns, kicks, jumps, historical steps, up to the minute moves, progressions and dances.
- Encompasses many styles, such as Broadway, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Funk and Lyrical.
Contemporary
- Combines the strong but controlled legwork of ballet with contemporary/modern that stresses on torso.
- Incorporates improvisation characteristics of modern dance.

Tap
- Teaches musicality, artistry, fine-motor coordination and development of strength and control.
- Diverse tap styles are encompassed, including Street Beat (percussion based tap dancing using cross rhythms, cannons and syncopation).
Musical Theatre
- A system of training which combines Vocal Work, Dance (Jazz, Tap and/or Lyrical) and Drama into a Musical Theatre performance.

Hip Hop
- Incorporates the latest moves in street dance.
- Teaches correct technique and body alignment, while encouraging individuality and personal style.

- AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling.
- Dancers who train through Acrobatic Arts have balanced development, are stronger, more flexible and fearless!

ATOD Teacher Training Programs
Students who have gained a satisfactory standard in their Elementary examinations have the opportunity to study a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management (CUA40320) with the Australian Teachers of Dancing (RTO31624). On successful completion of the Cert IV in Dance Teaching and Management, you can then sit for your Associate Teachers examination with ATOD.
